Introduction
History of the South Burnett region dates back only to 1993. However the first vines were planted in the early 1900's and wine for home consumption was made. The growth of the wine industry since 1993 has been rapid and at present there are over 35 growers with some 350 hectares of vines.

Primary Wine Styles

Chardonnay
As usual, this always-flexible variety performs well in the region. The wine has a tendency to be soft but has a pleasant and clear varietal character in a nectarine and melon range.

Semillon
It does provide a distinctive varietal flavour, with some citrus and herb.

Shiraz
The warm climate turns out wines, which are smooth and supple, light to medium bodied and with supple tannins. There are ripe cherry, plum, mint and chocolate flavours present in changeable levels.

Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot
Young vines are producing medium bodied with soft, sweet berry flavours with more extract and structure when vintage conditions are sympathetic.
