Introduction
Henty is the new name. Previously known as Far South West it is a remote region. Seppelt pioneered viticulture in 1964; there are now over 100 hectares of vineyards, with three wineries and six vineyards. While it remains an important source of sparkling wine base of the highest quality, excellent Riesling is also produced year in year out. So far a largely undeveloped region that holds much promise for the future.

Primary Wine Styles

Sparkling
The three classic grape varieties of Champagne - Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier - account for over half of the total plantings, and are predominantly directed to sparkling winemaking.

Riesling
Perhaps the best suited grape for the making of table wine and made by all the wineries in the region. Fine, intense, softly lime-accented wines gradually take on more toasty characters as they age in the bottle, but do not lose their hallmark elegance.

Cabernet Sauvignon
The vintage conditions have to be favourable and when they are Cabernet or a blend of Merlot and or Cabernet Franc produces a wine with prominent resemblance to Bordeaux from the Haut Medoc. Sometimes scented of cassis or at times tending more towards cedar and cigar box.
