Introduction White settlement began in 1846 but it wasn't until 1900 when Tubbs family planted first vines. They were producing both table wines and fortified wines. The modern wine history began in 1975 when Dr. Peter Tisdall established the Mount Helen vineyard. In 1995 Domaine Chandon established its vineyard capitalising on slow ripening summers and autumns producing grapes with high acidity.
