Western Australia is habitat to many of our most amazing native plants, and they grow in abundance in the Margaret River area. Stately eucalypts, knotted and twisted banksias and primeval blackboys with trunks blackened by centuries of bushfires, blackboys that stand above carpets of flowering kangaroo paws, desert peas and many, many other flowers. Western Australia wine regions have a large array of restaurants, many operated by wineries, generously scattered through and in towns like the Margaret River. There are many places to stay, ranging from luxury through to conventional motels and hotels to vineyard cottages to bed and breakfast accommodation. There is also a vibrant local craft community, focusing on Western Australian hardwoods and then there are the surfing beaches, populated year round, thanks to the pleasant temperatures, all year around. WA 2000 - 2001 wine production totalled 37,178,000 litres. |
