Primary Wine Styles

Chardonnay
A considerable part of the production is sold to wineries outside the region. The style is generous and rich, with ripe melon and peach fruit flavours.

Shiraz
Here as elsewhere, plantings are increasing speedily from the original small base. The first few crops produced wine with a mix of sweet, round fruit with touches of pepper and spice.

Cabernet Sauvignon
The most widely planted red grape, which regularly achieves full ripeness right across the region. Blackcurrant and dark chocolate flavours are supported by long and fine tannins giving the wines excellent ageing potential.
